When it came to horses, the de Leyers did everything as a family. At home, the kids had regular barn and farm chores from the time they were old enough to toddle after their older brothers and sisters. And while other trainers went to shows accompanied by professional grooms, Harry’s children helped with feeding, grooming, bandaging legs and loading the tack and Snowman into the van.
Not surprisingly, many of the de Leyer children went on to have careers that involved horses. And now, there are de Leyer grandchildren still competing and winning at the highest levels.
