Here is my own ’80 Dollar Champion.’ His name is Eidolon (a/k/a “Eli”) (or “Easy E,” because he’s so quick to learn and no drama, ever…). Eli is a 7-year-old American Thoroughbred sired by Deputy Warlock, out of Ms. Misery, a Silver Ghost mare. He was a refugee from Penn National Racetrack and I actually got him for free. No one wanted him because he is a cribber. But his racetrack trainer thought he was worth saving and campaigned hard to find him a good home. In the past two years he has taught me so much, and is really coming into his own as a smart, confident, safe, hardworking, super-willing event horse – currently competing at the Novice level. It is all I can do to try and keep up with his progress and not hold him back!
This picture of us was taken at Pine Top in Thomson, Georgia in March of this year, by Mark Lehrner’s HoofClix Sport Horse Photography. Thanks for letting me share his story.
